Default Engine detailing - Oil pan and engine cleanning

Hi !

My engine is almost done. Once it is off the car, it's time to put new clutch and oils seals. Them I decide to clean the oil pan and engine.

Was a very dirty job. About 8 ours of labor and 1 and a half gallon of Simple Green.

Here the results...

Next week I'll put the engine back and see what rappens... I hope it's everything OK now.

I need the car out of the shop this year, because I'm leaving Rio de Janeiro and moving to São Paulo.

My Picasa album has more pictures.

Great work, and nice job on the lifting - a level engine!

What's your secret?

I use a second chain around the front of the left exhaust manifold.

More pictures to come this wekeend.

I'm having very bussy days at the office, and no time to my car on weekdays.

Tomorrow i'll get a day off and try to finish the interior, stereo and put the engine back to the car until sunday. Not sure if i have time to finish the fuel delivery system.

No secrets on lifting i'll take one picture showing the chain.

The photos of the old water pump should convince a few people to change the coolant and flush the system.

All water pump's impeler blades was very thin, and it's debris was deposited everyware in the cooling system - water galeries at engine block, expansion reservoir and water hoses - all of them !

Was many hours of labor cleanning everything.

Fortunately no serious corrosion at engine block and heads.

The lesson learned was... A good quality and the right type of anti-freeze or mix is essential for all engines.

Default The engine is back !

After a long trip from São Paulo to Rio, I went to the shop where two friends was wainting from me to help to put the engine back.

We spend all day working on the engine, fixing some previous wrong services, installing new hoses, etc...

Here some pictures:
