Nope, still waiting to recieve pictures and vin before sending anything along. I figure I will be able to check and see if the colors and options match. If it comes back with rub strips and a different color, or matches up wonky in the registry... then it will be pretty obvious.

The seller did say that he pulled the front belt cover (it is still off) and verified that the belt is still intact. Apparently the alternator and starter have also been removed in attempts to diagnose component failure relating to the no-start.

Still hoping this works out. I would love to have a pair of 89's in the stable.

Will keep you guys posted.

Thanks
Hans

Hans,
He told me he sold it. I believe he said someone gave him 5k, put a computer in it and drove it away. That was about 7:00pm EST.

Did you buy it?

Sounds like a smart buyer - turn up with cash and buy on the spot. If they thought to bring a spare LH, odds are they probably also had a MAF, relays and fuel pump with them

The picture did indeed look like it had GTS quarters.. so my assumption was either the car's been modified with all the stuff in the photo in which case bargain, or it was a scam.

So he drove away with the starter and alternator removed??? I emaild him a few days ago when I first saw it asking a few questions like mileage and VIN and what the problem was. The only response I received was "timine is fine needs alternater and starter". I also left 2 messages and never got a call back.

The seller never got back with me last night. I will call him again today.

I did speak with him around 6:30 last night, and he was on his way to get pictures. Seems unlikely that that it would have sold a few minutes after that.

Similarly, I was told the alternator, starter, and front timing belt covers were off. It also supposedly hadn't run in 2 years. If someone just drove it off, they must be a fast wrench to get it put back together, and really cut some corners.

Will try and get the scoop today.

They probably just installed a new Flux Capacitor.

Hans, I talked with him for 1.5 hours. He said he sold it to the first guy that called. He said he told the other guys they would have to wait. Did you send someone with cash? He sounded like a stand up guy. He also has an 81 euro S. Didn't even know what it was. When I asked him it it had 2 distributers, he said yes I almost choked. It has bad corosion issues on the wireing. If he promised you, I will bet he would not lie to you. He just sounded like an honorable guy. He may have just told me that to cut the conversation about it. I didn't mean to cause you any anxiety. I thought it was you who got it.

I am going to try to help him get the 81 going.

Sorry,

AH...."He also has an 81 euro S. Didn't even know what it was. When I asked him it it had 2 distributers, he said yes I almost choked. " I too would have almost choked since only the 84-86 16 valve Euro has two distributers......Either the guy is an idiot based on all the comments or.....

Hello All,
I live in Columbus and work in Dublin. I'd be happy to look at it for anyone who is interested.
Thanks!

Thanks for pointing that out James. I had no idea. I also asked him if it had bumperetts on the back or the square rear fog light. He says the latter. However, he never sent me the email with pictures yet either... Seemed like a nice car guy...
