man!! search function isn't lying when it says how hard that @#$%@#$ thing is to get out of there. I've got the master unbolted and it moves a lot, but not in the direction I want it to go!

nice floor,
Rustoleum with pebbles?
The slave looks worn what you see are the remains of the dust boot.
To remove the clutch MC try also removing all of the brake booster bolts there are 4 of them done under the dash remove the rubberized foam cover first.

Its a PITA but will make removing the MC easier as it usually catches on the firewall heat shield coating thus jamming it, if you can post pictures of the MC internals

Thanks, yep Rustoleum with pebbles plus the "satin" overcoat.

Got away with loosening all the booster bolts but not removing them, should be easier to put back together, I hope, because I'm not sure who's got fingers that would fit up there - sure isn't me!

I'll take apart the MC tomorrow so we can see inside. Hopefully the new bits will be here by next sat so I can put it all back together, too! This project scope expanded a bit when I decided to ditch the solid motor mounts, so the cross member is out on the floor now. Wish that would help me get my arm in the for the clutch MC install but I don't think it will.

My friend has a floor just like with the satin finish and the same color and pebbles

Anyway if your doing the clutch hydraulics ,
I suggest to replace all of these parts
Blue hose,
Clutch flex hose,
Master cylinder,
Slave cylinder,
Also remove the push rod clevis and pin and bushings and inspect them,
these parts are found on the pedal, if there is any play replace all of these parts.
Also make sure to get a new release arm bushing ,
keep it on hand you may need to install this part as well.

This will restore full function of the clutch and you wont have to mess with it for another 10 years

I've got a new bushing already, put one in when I rebuilt the motor and put in a new clutch disk, throwout bearing and updated release arm last year. I've got a new blue hose on hand already, so that will be easy.

Flex line looks "different" than I've seen in other posts, maybe a PO already replaced it. I'll post some pics after I get home from work.

No preload on the slave or master cylinder when at rest is what I should have said.

OK JOB complete! I only ended up a quart of fluid all over the floor, no matter how careful I am bleeding things it seems something always go wrong. oh well!

Happy to say that things seem to work fine now, pedal seems smoother and no more slip. I need to try some launches - it started raining - but I think I'm good now.

Getting that thing in there sure was fun. If my arm was any bigger, it wouldn't have fit, and any shorter I couldn't have reached it.
