Default 87 5spd- Did I humble a 370z?

I was on my way home from work this evening. There is a path I take home that is great to do speed tests and has little traffic at this time of day.
I started to accelerate from about 70 MPH and in my rear view I saw what I looked like a new Boxter or 911 about 100 yards behind me and coming around a truck fast as if they we gunning for me.
I was at about 80 and I noticed he was really gaining right up until I broke 125 and from there I pulled away slowly and when I hit 145 I was 200 yards or more and he was slowing down. I slowed as well. Took my exit and noticed as he passed it was a 370Z . Any chance of this being a 928 Victory?

Umm 332hp and 3232lbs should beat the 928 all day....however I have found 928's tend to do much better in the "real" world than many other "superior" vehicles on paper....

From what I have researched about the 928, its performance really shines over distance and higher speed. Not so much out of the gate. Specifications are also marketing materials.

I had my *** handed to me in the GT by a 370Z a while back. But I'm a lousy driver. So I built a stroker to compensate. Still looking for round 2.

Over what distance and speed and was it from a dead or rolling start

From a stoplight we turned right onto a long gradual uphill grade, he decided we were racing so he got on it first, I kept up with him for a while up to maybe 70 or so, then he slowly pulled maybe a carlength up to about 100 at which point I backed off, 'cause like I said, I'm not a very good driver. Had we been on a level interstate with no traffic, I'd guess he would run out of steam before I would, but we weren't.

okay not to "brag"....but I have handed "asses" to many-many newer far more expensive rides in my bucket.....sure I can drive okay...but I am hardly a serious racer.... Don't believe me....ask Speedtoys (Jeff), Sean, Kibort or Anderson.....all have raced or driven it......

I must admit I LOVE teaching "ricers" a lesson...at the track they tend to be in Evo's....but its still fun!!!!

http://www.ncracing.org/tt-standings.php

I don't know what an EVO 9 is ......but its almost too easy to turn better times than it at the track.... I'm bummed I called it a day early on March 6th after my overall race win and didn't turn anymore laps once the track dried out...which is the only time I "lost" to a 2:09.8 on the bypass when I have run 2:06.9 on the bypass

I think I can verify he would run out of steam or would be pushing really hard.

My dad pulled a couple cars on one in his stock lotus elise. A strong running 928 should be able to pull one at higher speeds.
