Default Water Bridge temp sensor

On my 83S, the sender for the dash temp gauge is located on the water bridge. Does anyone know the size and pitch of that senders threads?

I would like to exchange a new sender from my digital gauge. New sender is 1/8th NPT. Could not find this using search. Thanks, Kevin

I believe it's M14×1.5 (at least it was on my '90, and I don't think the size has changed over the MYs, although the sender changed from 928.606.201.01 to 928.606.201.03 in '89; the water bridge didn't change in that year, though, so... tapped hole size must be the same ).

Temp II sender (the other, smaller hole) appears to be M12×1.5.

I got these from measuring (with a digital caliper) a couple of bolts that I used when I was temporarily plugging those holes a few months ago; the silver bolt is the M14, the black one is the M12:

BTW, it sounds like you might be interested in this:

...or this: (there seem to be plenty of these kinds of adapters available; this happens to be available at O'Reilly Auto Parts for about $8)

Just out of curiosity: does the replacement sender you're considering have a long enough probe/tip that it'll reach the coolant when using an adapter like the above?
