Default So, what should I ask for this?

Evening gents,

My dad gave this to me a year ago. However it needs some work. I work 12-14 hours a day. So trying to restore this one is out of the question for me. Which is why I bought the 84. I was considering selling it, but what to ask?

Something interesting about the car is that it was used in Germany, then shipped over. Everything in the car is in german. It has an interesting Checker board interior, which is near perfect. The body is super straight. The title says 1980, but it has spoilers front and rear. I am having the hood painted in a few days. its an Auto. I think it has a large vaccuum leak. When it starts it tries to rev to kingdom come.

Anyway, what should I ask?

If you want an estimate you'll have to provide more details. What is the mileage? What records do you have of work done? You cannot expect opinions on an estimate without more pictures which show the interior and exterior condition. Also what kind of work does it need? Based on the info you have provided, I would guess that the car is worth between $2K and $7K.

Sorry Esprit, that is a very good point.

I will update when I have more pics.

Mileage is around 99K, but I will update when I gather more info.

Thanks

Post the VIN also, that way the features can be listed without the usual speculation about it being, or not being, the Euro S. Picture of the engine code is also needed.

Might be worth more if you don't paint the hood.

Over-revving? That could be damaging on a cold engine especially.

Its a grey-import, originally sold to the German market.

As a 1980 with spoilers, its most likely the 300hp 4.7L 928 S - more power than the US 4.7L cars when its running well. The VIN would clarify whether its an S, as would the engine number.

Oh, and post some pics of the interior - if the front seats are good condition Pascha, then there's probably a suitable buyer here on these forums

Are there any local 928 groups? In Mi there is a wonderful local group. When I went to my 1st meeting AO and Big Dave grabbed a bunch of wrenches and realigned my hood.
Buy a few beers and ask around?

You should ask $1000. Being a good friend I'll give you double, $2000.

If it is not drivable that greatly reduces the value.....since there is no way to know what works and what does not.
