ME TOO! 1500 is chump change and that car could easily get that from parts.

But, that looks like a very nice rescue/save, at a decent price.

Tough to tell without more info, but VERY promissing.

I made it over to look at this car this morning. Please follow the link(hopefully) to see the photos I took.

To me it is certianly a Euro! I didn't buy it....scared...seems like a ton of work and money....not sure I wanted to take the risk. I really wanted it since it's the right color and HP. Just scared that I might not get lucky twice buying a non-runner from tow yard and getting it running! Plus, the warden told me the other cars would have to go!

Motor # is M28/11 Tranny has 11D stamped into it?

The car has been in the tow yard since 8/09 and supposedly last run 9/09. No Keys, broken winshiled, 8623426 miles on the odometer to name a few. Has not been registered since '09 ad is not on non-op. Hopefully the pics will answer other questions. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Good choice. I would've been scared too.

As they say, I picture is worth a 1000 words. Thanks for the pics, man!

This car is a 0 out of 3. It needs paint, interior, and mechanicals are unknown.

Anyway, looking forward to more pics.
Shipping will probably be more like $1200 - $1500, depending on who and how soon you need it.

Jadz928 - Thanks, your comment is reassuring! I have beating myself up thinking I did the wrong thing by walking away.

Richard,
Probably a good pass. Parts car or track beast. If (big if) the engine is good and it's the 300hp version, it would be a direct replacement into your 79. Low ball the owner, yank the engine, r&r it, drop it in your 79. Part out the rest and get some money back. Sounds so simple, how can your wife say "No"?

I'll give you a call tomorrow if you want to come over.

So what did your wife say when the "parts car" was in the garage for all those months
while we pulled the engine and tranny...

Well, she didn't say "No".

Actually we got it done quick, only 3-4 weeks. But the last week was her fault, so by my reckoning we did it on time

Rich - I tried a version of what you suggest above but she called "bull@#$t" on the deal. Maybe because I said that same thing when I bought #2. "Honey, I will take the parts that I need, get it running, sell it and make some money in end" Now the side yard looks a little like a Pick-N-Pull and I can't see an easy way to just "part it out". Not sure I would want some dude over there wrenching the tranny out and leaving the back of the car on the ground. Any pointers would be welcome. BTW - anybody need any 79 parts? no sunroof or rubstrips.

I am going to ponder this over the weekend and if the car is still there, maybe go back at it next week. Tow yard guy said someone from SoCal was going to bring a trailer on Sat if the pictures he requested from tow yard guy showed him what he wanted to see.

Anybody have an idea of what tranny might be in this car? Try as I might with 2 cameras, the only thing I could get to come out clear was "11D" in the id #

Rich - call my cell (hopfully I gave it to you) tomorrow is the Lakeside garage sales and I might have to look around.

You could ship this car to MN for less than a grand. I recently shipped a car from LA to MA for $900 in an open carrier, which I believe would be appropriate for this car.

That being said, I think this car really needs an experienced local buyer.

The car looks pretty straight, complete and unmolested. Plus the 5spd,Euro 300hp,colors,sunroof delete. 1,000 hrs and $6,000 if the motor and trans are ok and you may have something. Good starting point if you love to work on these or are wanting to learn. The car is worth around $1000 IMHO. Gunar
