Default Engine shock absorber

I'm spending some time under the car and noticed two holes on both sides of the cross member attaching point. Looks like they're made for engine shock absorbers.

They are either missing or not standard on my 89 S4. Can someone confirm this?

Thanks.

Michel.

They are on the early cars, the later cars do not have them.

Shocks were used with mounts (different ones) on early models only. Like 81 or less.
Not sure on the exact year though.

Edit: Checked in the Porsche parts CD and Porsche changed from the solid to hydraulic mounts in 1983. They removed the schocks that same year.

Oh those - the ones at the lower arm. I thought you were talking about motor mounts

Early cars 78-82 did have the shock absorbers 928 375 179 02 in combination with old style motor mounts 928 375 043 02. Later models with the fluid motor mounts 928 375 039 00 do not have the shocks. Note these specs are for European cars. I am not sure about US specs cars.
