Default First time on a dyno -89 S4 AT

I think I have my shark running pretty well, so I am taking it for a dyno run this evening. Just to satisfy my curiosity and see if it is close to factory expectations. It is completely stock and I want a baseline reading before I contemplate any performance mods.

So my question is...is there anything special that I need to do to effectively test the AT S4 on a dyno? I read in another post that you should disconnect the kickdown switch and the bowden cable. Is that correct? Is there anything else?
If everything is running well, what should I expect to see as results?

Thanks for any advice.

You'll probably want to do the run in 3rd rather than D. Even though D is 1:1, the 2.54 rear in you 89 puts the final dyno roller speed way up there. You can get good data in 3 and try to repeat the runs back to back..as in floor it.....redline....then have them brake it back down...and when you drop below 2500rpm...run it again to redline...have them brake it back down again.. and then again... 3 times...and discard the 1st.... should give you a good idea of what you are putting down.

What dyno are you running on?

Dynoing the auto is easy....disconnect the kickdown under the pedal & the bowden cable at the main throttle assembly next to the intake....

Since you have an 89 with the 2.54 you might be able to dyno in 4th which is ideal since its 1-1....but it depends on how "fast" the dyno can go....since many dyno's won't read past 200mph which is quite easy for a 2.20 928 to reach in 4th gear....so I dyno in 3rd typically with the 2.20....however my last dyno in the 84 auto with 2.20 was in 4th since the dyno can go very high...it reached an indicated 190mph at 6000rpm in 4th....

Thanks for the imput everyone. Based on the rpms at 100kph (2000) I am assuming it has 2.20 gearing not 2.54. So it will likely be a 3rd gear run. Anyway, I am looking forward to the results. I will post details after it's done.

Back from the dyno. It was a Dynojet research dyno.

Of the 3 pulls the last was the best at max power = 260.2 max torque = 272.2

Nothing blew up, no smoke although they said it was running rich at the high end, and no nasty sounds coming from the engine bay. Car ran nicely and ended up exactly where I hoped. Pretty much right on the mark for a stock s4.
