Default Carpet kit MAP 928S4 1987

Does anyone have a carpet kit MAP? When i purchased my car it came with a box of carpet with no instructions. While i have installed several kits on 911's , i have never attempted to install a new set on a 928.

I normally can match up the carpet pieces, but its nice to lay out the pieces on the floor per the map.

I have no clue where the kit came from because the box was not in the original box.

Thanks for any info..

once you take off the old pieces you can figure it out .
I suggest to use Weldwood brush on adhesive and use staples where they were used on the original assembly.
IIRC there about 25 pieces of carpet, its a fun job!

The first time is really fun. It gets easier after a few.
I highly recommend installing Dynamat underneath the carpet. It's well worth the cost and effort in my opinion.

I did mine without a map; it's not too difficult. Just figure out where the big pieces go first and then the little ones will come naturally.

I used RAAMAT and ensolate under my install:

Stop by sometime if you want to see what it looks like.

Anybody know where the two pieces of carpet are placed on my car?

I also can't seem to find the piece of carpet that covers the small DS guard for the seat belt. Would it be the 2nd photo, after cutting it up?

thanks jpc

First pic is too blurry to see. Needs to be on something flat to see the shape as well.

Last two are for the floor behind the seats. Those and the ones for the floor of the front seats are removable for cleaning. The rest all get glued down (after being trimmed to fit). The ones with the edges shouldn't be cut, the rest probably will be too large and should be cut to fit. EDIT: They could also be for the back of the rear seats, I'm not sure since I can't tell how large they are.

+1 on the brush-on glue. I used spray on and there were a few places where I had to go back over it with adhesive remover to get the aerosolized particles out of the carpet. Also needed to keep the overspray off of the rest of the interior.

Keep plenty of disposable gloves and a can or two of adhesive remover handy. I used at least one pair of gloves for every single piece of carpet. Once you get any glue or anything on them you need to throw them away and get new. Extra time and care at this point will prevent any messes that could potentially be a PITA later.

There is a small map here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/.../928carpet.jpg

Not the best, but if you squint you can make out where most pieces go.

Cool man.

Here it is a little bigger (but no better resolution).

It looks like it includes the door panel inserts, but those aren't carpeted. I think the rest looks right, some kits include the mats for the back seats which I think is what he has pictured above but isn't in this diagram.

The first one is for the amplifier cover on the passenger side between the seat and door.
The other two are glued on the forward floor rails under the front seats.

thanks guys, now i just need to find the darn carpet piece for the seat belt cover. My car came with the kit, so i have no idea if i am short a few pieces.

Mr. Budd,

I think the kit came from you...but i am not 100 percent sure.

I was checking out your foam inserts (on ebay) for the rear trunk. I am thinking about purchasing them and the front hood kit.

I do have a question about the foam inserts i purchased (at HELL) for the front floors. What direction do these mount? I would guess i have them backwards but can't tell.

Update:

My cars interior was originally dark blue (SUN faded). I had purchased a horn paid (embroidered Porsche 928)that was light navy blue. I have since began re-dying my interior with a custom color match. I hope to have the job done before the next hell meeting.

Next up after the carpet is to repair the main dash and redye it. I will have to pull the seats to ensure the dye does not hit the bone white turbo seats i installed. Thanks goodness i have changed the factory bolts out from the seats with your seat rail bolts. The factory bolts were like butter.

thanks again

jpc

The passenger side should have the small notches toward the fuse box mounting brackets.

The driver's side should have the angled side toward the console.
