Sounds like the BOV is too small. Wehn the throttle closes, even with the small leak you have, will generate a huge amount of vacuum, that the leak won't matter. But if the BOV is small and can't vent enough air, it will push the pipes apart.

Yes it's back by the rear passenger tire.
Mike the boost controller and BOV are also located just to the outboard side of the coldside turbo boot.

I think the BOV is sized ok. I've noticed over time that it's gotten more and more quiet. When it was 1st intalled it had a very distinct "Pshew, Pshew, Pshew" sound. Now you can hardly hear it when you let off the gas. I also suspect a vacuum leak.
One thing's for sure, between Mike and Sean............... I'm going to have 1 well sorted Turbo very shortly!!

Pele is running the same TIAL BOV I am and mine works fine. It has a nearly 2" (50.5mm) piston. But, the vacume line running to it is probably to small. I used a full size 1/4 inch metal line for most of the line on my car and then used rubber just at the ends. My BOV did not activate quick enough with the smaller line I originally used and also where I had it tied into. I had to tee the BOV directly into the same vacume source I was using for my boost reference which on my S4 is a line running directly to the manifold, not any of the other accessory vacume lines to the HVAC/Fuel Dampners etc. The spring pressure inside the BOV needs to be an 11PSI spring to work properly with our engine vacume level. Need to check that too.
