MaxJax arrived today
880 pounds shipping weight, one skid. Now I guess I'm ready to think about the install and order the rest of the required stuff (drill bits, longer hoses, etc.). Should be fun! A few pics of what it looks like.
The skid after it was moved into the garage on a pallet jack
A larger view showing the scale of the package
Package with shiping wrapping removed. There is another box containing the pump body that is not shown
All but the columns and rams removed from the meta skid frame, lifting arms loose on top
One of the lifting arms with the 3" pad height extension and the lifting pad on it

Marty--
From my lessons-learned diary:
-- Put three good wraps/layers of teflon tape on the threads of the hydraulics, or you'll risk leaks. I set the torque wrench to 45 lbs/ft when tightening the fittings.
-- If you don't have a rotary hammer to drill for the anchors, bigger Home Depot stores rent them. Trying to do it with a conventional hammer-drill takes forever, and risks holes that aren't round and may be too big from bit walk.
-- Best source for extension hoses I've found is Fastenal. A 10' hose with 3/8-NPT fittings is less than $35. You'll want at least one. Get a real hydraulic threaded coupler while you are there to join the hoses; plumbing-store couplers aren't rated for the pressure.
-- Test-fit the columns and arms to make sure you can do what you want. Too close to the car and it's tough to open the doors, and the arms may not go short enough to line up with the lift pads on the car. Too far out and you may have issues with getting past the lift when it's raised unledd you duck under the arms. Depends on how much room you have of course. I set anchors for a few different spacings, but find that I leave the columns out at 135" outside-edge to outside-edge spacing in my garage.
-- Lubricate the threads on the setting bolt. Stack a few of the shipping-bolt washers under the nut when you set the anchors. The instructions for the anchors are on the WedJit website, and differ slightly from what comes with the MaxJax unit.
-- Once the anchors are set, I use the torque wrench set to 50 lbs/ft on the anchor bolts whenevr I place the columns. No Impact Wrench on these.
-- If you need to shim the columns to level, you can glue washers under the mounting pad once you know what it needs. Better than fumbling with horseshoe shims every time you move the posts. A bit of JBWeld comes in handy for this.
-- Gallons of Castrol ATF are at Wally World for about $13.

Does it really weigh 400 kilos = 880 pounds?
Funny, it didn't seem nearly that heavy when I helped the delivery guy get mine off the truck a couple of weeks ago. Must have been all the adrenalin!!

I have not yet ordered any additional parts, but do plan on getting one or two longer hoses based upon input from folks here

Just get 1 longer hose and a coupler for the 2 stock hoses. I also got 90 degree fitting instead of using the 45 degree fitting provided. This way the hose is flush against the jack instead of sticking out and tripping people.

Wow, did you and the delivery guy pick it up and move it? I had problems just sliding it slightly across the floor! Maybe the gravity is less down under?

I've seen that advice elsewhere as well, seems like the way to go. Thanks!
