im my opinion, id spend a few extra dollars and get a quality unit. but its your eyes.

I have a cheap unit. Works well for welding, but even with the sensitivity adjusted it darkens when cleaning up the welds with a grinder. PITA.

My brother is a welder by trade and he would never use a auto helmet. I agree with him based on the fact that if you do this as a job you may get hundreds of contact flashes a day, your eyes after twenty years will not be happy. just my .02

cheap auto hoods yes. you do get what you pay for. i have a solid helmet and auto. but the auto gets used more. i like seeing what im doing
