One more 928 torque tube bearing noise & flex plate experience

Thanks. Was your problem in the torque tube or the torque converter. I think I read something about a year ago referring to rivets at the torque converter working loose and being replaced with bolts. Not what I need right now... It may make slow trips around the neighborhood for a long while before this gets done.

My torque tube bearings had to be replaced.
If I remember correctly, the rivets are at the plate-to-? connection on transmission. I can find out more exact details since I have to take my 928 back tomorrow for the dreaded "hunting idle". I'm giving up on trying to figure that out (when I say giving up, I mean I've exhausted my supply of beer and patience :-)

thanks for the tip!
Thanks for this article. I had the same noise that you described. My "Porsche Specialist" said my TT bearings were causing the noise and quoted repair for approx 2kEur. After reading your instructions I released and replaced the clamp and problem was over. The S4 aut drives like never before. Also it starts much better. Thanks again. Paul
