My company takes care of a company that does nascar wrapping...they said the 928 would be easy, and the wrap would last about 3 years.....

C'mon down Brian, and we can go scope em out!

I'm not convinced on matte black, sure it looks okay the first couple days but i've heard it starts to really get ****ty after a couple months since it holds road dust/dirt and grease. To me the matte finish reminds me of those ricers you see with their matte black hoods, and an unfinished look, like you just primed it and are driving it because you can't afford the top coat and it's your DD.

Well, the guy said bring it over and he'll work up an estimate, unfortunately, it is an hour from me, and she does not yet run....he guesstimated about a grand....he said it would look like paint, and they could do anything, including carbon fibre....I'm not really a fan of that 'tho

Seemed reasonable to me...I am sure you would still have to do similar prep work to paint, especially if it is as bad as mine is....

I think this will get more popular as the product gets better. It is good right now but takes a real skill to do it right. Kind of like paint I guess. I did my 968 on the lower part of the hood just below the crest and it looks great. After that I got cocky and tried to do the front bumper on the 928 with a complete fail. I studied it but without someone right there teaching you how to do the curves it is really hard.

Who will be the first to wrap a 928 in chrome?
Has to be cheaper than a re-paint.

So how come I could in theory get a full on applique of adhesive vinyl that won't harm the paint/finish, but I can find some stick on foam pads to provide some buffer to the car cover, that won't mar the paint?

I've often wondered of this. What do you do with rust? Get rid of the big chunks and go over it?

I'm thinking the application can't be that different from "MonoKote"ing and R/C plane, can it?

My car is silver, was thinking the chrome would look cool. Not sure how wraps holds up, it is my DD shared with my TR7.

New paint would probably run $3,500 minimum.

Have you seen a full car done with this? They don't look like back primer.

Sorry, couldn't find a 928.

They look good here but what will they be like in six months and with a few gravel road miles?

I was thinking about doing the "Onion" in a Flat Gold wrap, a friend "backinblack" attended this years SEMA and said the wrap dealers were all over the show w/demos and product, he brought back many samples and contact info. I've seen a demo of 944 being wrapped on youtube, they took a lot apart to do it.

Tony, are you saying that car ^^^^^^ is wrapped?

Anyone got photos of or a link to what edges (around trim, doors and jambs, under side of hood, etc.) look like?
