Default throttle not closing

Hi,

I have hunting idle on my 87 s4 when warm. Temp 2 and WOT Ohm'ed OK. Idle switch does not close, so that's probably it.

Upon inspection I found that the throttle does not close fully, if I push it back by hand, the idle switch closes (audible click), and Ohms @ 0 Ohms.

So my issue is basically that the spring force is not enough to close the throttle until the switch closes. How do I adjust this?

My car has no cruise control, and is a 5-speed. Why 2 cables? (silly question, but...) what's the second, upper cable for? The lower one goes to the pedal...

love,

mm

sscrew in the housing adjuster on the throttle quadrant the second cable is for the TPS/Throttle butterfly if its too tight then the plate wont close,
you may want to inspect the wheel that the cable rolls over to do this remove the aircleanr housing then inspect the cable run.
Might also ask what was the last thing you fixed, they might be related

Thanks, I'll look into it right away.

Ahhhh, the second cable is for the throttle butterfly, I said it was a silly question...

The last thing I fixed was the rear hatch release

The system is basic mechanical where the accelerator pedal is connected to the throttle plate and mechanism through 2 cables. As Stan indicates check both cables for fraying damage and proper adjustment.

Its doubtful that the issue is with the throttle plate itself if you haven't been in there recently. If it is the intake should come off to effectively troubleshoot and repair.....follow Dwaynes step by step epic
