Default Panamera Wheel - Max Tire Front

I've searched and read the threads that I could find and I gather that there is no problem with a 235 front and 275 rear. 8 & 9 inch wheels.

I have scored a set of the 18 inch 10 spoke wheels and wonder if there is any one who has put a 245 on the front.

These will be for track work.

Thanks,

Ken

Vlocity,

I run 255/40 17 tires on 9.5*17 60mm offset rims with no problems or interference. My car is set at 10mm below the min factory ride height at the crossmember. I did have to add an a second rack bumper to keep the tire from contacting the against the inner fender. I have room to run a 265/40 if I roll the fender. Here is a look at my car and how full the front fenders are

^^^^^
Was about to ask the same thing... Once upon a time I knew that offset # for the PanAm wheel, but I can't remember now... 53 or 63 maybe on the front...escapes me now...

Front ET is 58. 235 no problems, 245 should be OK. My only question for you is whether the 8" wheels are able to handle more than a 245?

The 18 inch Panamera wheels I've seen are ET 59 front and 53 rear.

8" with a ET59 would be nice. I think 245 is going to be max tire on that wheel...I wouldn't be comfortable running much more than that... Though I do run 245's (but tall tire and 16" wheel) on my 7.5" D90... Maybe you could get away with a tallish 255 for the track???

Quick check over at Tire Rack for a Hoosier road race tire they want an 8.5" rim for the 255/XX-18.

Gearz you are correct! Front ET 59, Rears ET 53. Guess I should've looked at my own posts since mine was the first 928 to put panamera wheels on early last May.

Thanks guys.

I think that I'll see if I can find someone with a spent tire for me to mock up and then pull the trigger.

I have custon Forgelines with 9.5 inch front 275s and 11 inch rear 315s for regular track work, but didn't know the offset on the Pana wheel.

I agree that 245 would be max width on this rim.

Going with 245 front and 275 rear will give me tires with nearly identical circumference.

I tried 245/40-18 tires on my 8" ET57 Carrera III's, but they rubbed on the inside during turns. I believe the diameter was too large. I bet 245/35-18's would work much better.

Ken,

I have 255/40 X 18 Michelin PS2's on the 8" et50 hollow spokes I run on the front of my '89 S4 to, from, and on the track. I have the same tires on the front of my "special" 9" et69 Sport Design wheels on the front of the '94 GTS for street/highway driving. I have a "touch" of rub on the right inner tire when the steering is at full right lock. 1/16 of a turn from full lock there is no rubbing.

Gary
