Default Squeaky Heater Core?

A high pitched squeak that seems to be coming from behind the center console has been driving me nuts as long as I've owned my 928. I finally got around to taking the console completely out and thought I'd see something obvious, but everything looks tight. I can't cause the squeak by pressing on the car body-it only happens when the wheels bounce over rough pavement. I'm pretty sure it's coming from inside the car, in fact it's louder with the console out. Is there anything inside the heater core compartment that would tend to squeak? I don't really want to try opening that clamshell housing, but while the console is out,it may be worth doing if I know what I might be looking for.
