thought about it, even got a vacuum valve for a bag. i think covering it will be harder then trying to replace it with carbon fiber, but making a mold and a replacement will be a chore. interesting to see what others think. i imagine you can try to lay out the carbon fiber then try to make the epoxy look nice, b ut that will be hard. paul's leather kit will be a better alternative once all is said and done...

what is pauls leather kit?i've been looking at covers but then came across a carbon fiber kit for covering parts.would be nice to pull a mold and make a carbon fiber of fiberglass dash cap that wouldn't warp in the sun.could probably sell a ton of them too.

If you have access to a fiberglass boat look at the outside then look at the inside.....note the nice smooth gellcoat and then the rough grainy woven look of the inside. The shiney part is what was next to the smooth mold....the rough part is what you get when you hand lay glass resin and cloth. That is why you need to make a mold off the part you wish to replace if you want it nice and shiney smooth.......if you just glue carbon fiber sheets to the old dash it will look really, really bad.

Of course there is the FULLY MOLDED fiber glass dash already available from a dedicated 928 fan here. Don't have the link, but I bet someone will post it. Not sure what your looking for on doing your dash in CF anyway...if you are just looking for the "LOOK" then buy the molded fiber glass dash and use CF tape/wrap (some of it looks REALLY GOOD) and go for it. If you are looking to save weight then the FG molded dash by itself would be the most cost effective and efficient way to do that...
