Hi All,
Well I may have found the 928 I've been looking for, unfortunately a few thousand miles from home but hey... supposed to get some more pics and details tomorrow, but is looking promising from a distance at least.
So I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a mechanic or shop in the Rochester or Buffalo, NY area who could do a good PPI for me? Have searched the forum, came up with the name of one shop near Buffalo (Athol Motors) but it was mentioned that they might not be 928 experts.
All recommendations and suggestions welcome, thanks!
Joel

CDI in Victor NY. Not sure how much recent experience they have, but they were unwilling to sell me their set of manuals...I'd at least give them a ring, but it's a fair hike from Buffalo.

Thanks, though I think this owner will not want / be able to drive too long a distance... was hoping for something within 30 minutes or so. I believe the car is actually about 1/2 way between Rochester and Buffalo.

Any other recommendations from Western NY? A mechanic, or perhaps a Rennlister with a good eye... would be happy to treat for a great dinner out there (or here in LA if you ever get this way) as a way of saying thanks.
Best,
Joel

There was a good place I used to go to back in 2003/04, off Southpark Avenue, near the Sorrento cheese factory, but I can't remember the name - maybe someone from there can chime in.
PS - Seneca Falls is very far away from Buffalo/Rochester - it's down in the finger lakes, and not likely an owner would take a car that far just for a ppi.

That was my concern as well Ed, Seneca Falls is a bit of a drive and I know the owner is busy.
If anyone is familiar with the shop off Southpark would be great, thanks

Bingo! (damn just re-read your original post and it is right there
).
When I bought my first shark back in 2003, it was an 84 and it had issues. Took it to the local Porsche dealer in the greater Buffalo area (where I lived at the time). Got royally screwed, and learned a great lesson - Porsche dealers hate/don't understand the 928 (and yes, found the same thing at the local Porsche dealer in Pittsburgh when I lived there).
Long story short, found Athol thru a recommendation, and they did the work on my car from thereafter. Quality work and fair price. Completely familiar with the 928. The current owner should have no problem accomodating you there.
Good luck and keep us posted.
