Default Rob Budd, LED dimmer question

Hi Rob,

I see that you mention in several posts about wiring in an LED dimmer that you link to. You said that it needs to be wired into the pod, so I guess it can't be wired in place of the original potentiometer.

Could you go into detail, maybe pics. if possible, about how and which copper traces to connect to, on the pod?

Thanks

Sorry for the late reply.
That is correct. The OEM potentiometer dims all the dash lights on the circuit so replacing it with the LED dimmer does no good.
The ribbon connector on the back right side of the pod has a brown wire and a black/blue stripe wire on the end of the left side that controls only the 3 pod bulbs. You can follow the path from the connector on the circuit board to verify it or check your wiring diagram. (L&R orientation, sitting in the drivers seat.)

When I did was cut the two wires an inch or two from the connector, run the brown wire to the - (neg) input lead on the dimmer and the black/blue stripe wire to the + (pos) input on the dimmer and then ran the corresponding output wires of the dimmer back to the brown and blue/stripe wires on the connector.

The dimmer can be mounted in the plastic trim under the pod. Keep it clear of the pod up and down adjustment lever.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures, perhaps on the next job I'll do that.
