My bro and family did factory p/u of their XC90, visited us in Stuttgart, then dropped it off in Frankfurt for shipping back to Cali... they had a great time.
The AAFES deal is generally a good one (not as much for Porsches, 5% discount I think, plus no dealer marketing mark-up, or whatever they call that tactic - I think the Bimmer discount was 10%). Whatever you get, I'm sure you'll enjoy it, especially driving over there.
The drive from Stuttgart to Salzburg is fabulous... an excellent combination of Autobahn and picture postcard mountain roads - with a stop at the Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgarden... man, those were great times... I'm jealous.
