I tried inflating my space master spare tyre today. It would seem that when used last time (yes - I have had to use it!) the valve was ruined.
I would like to retain the ability to use as New Zealand has some remote areas with no cell ph coverage and little traffic making calling for help difficult.
I cannot get the valve out of the valve stem - the first attempt saw the ribs on the valve break off so I cannot turn the remainder of the valve.
Before I get desperate and take to it with a pair of pliers & drill etc I need answers to the following:
1 - is there any special process to remove the tyre from the rim sufficiently to get the valve stem out?
2 - anyone out there know where I might be able to get a replacement stem & valve? I do not wish to buy the rim & tyre which is all I have been offered.
3 - If by some miracle I get the valve out without damaging things or depositing metal fragments into the tyre, does any ont know if the valves are std type. It looks to have a rather long pin out the top in order to reach the top of the stem.
Thanks,
Myles

I looked carefully at a spare valve I had lying around and figured that I should be able to push the pin in far enough to get an ezy-out into the hole in the valve. Worked like a charm - I guess ezy outs do have their uses after all.
The tyre still would not inflate and inspection of the now removed valve showed that a metal cap off the end was still inside the stem and was stuck sufficiently to stop inflation.
I risked a short suck on the valve stem and when I released the cap flew out clearing the blockage.
I guess I have used up my luck for the week.
Hopefully this post will be useful for someone in the future.
