BBS wheel fit for 79 928
I've been looking at wheels for my 79 928 and I have taken a liking to these three piece BBS wheels:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
The ones listed here are a set of four 16 x 8.5 et 62.
I've read past posts of wheels like these on other 928s, but it is not always noted if they had different widths for front and back.
Pros and cons, or just a bad idea all around?
Thank you in advance for your time and your thoughts.

If they fit (and they should - I've seen them on other sharks) and you like them, go for it.
Since you asked, however, imho, these are the ugliest of all wheels
I'd rather the phone dials that were stock on the 79, which I like (the deep dish 16" phone dials, not the flat 15" ones). I even like the manhole covers better than these.
But, like I said, your car, your call.

I have the same wheels but my rears have a deeper offset than the fronts and are an inch wider. I like them. They are a well made light wheel but do look dated. This picture shows the offsets. The car looks better now. Gunar

Have you ever seen the Gotti 5-spokes???

I've seen these (in person) on a 928.

I understand that the general consensus here is not too many, (ok, mostly all of you) do not care for these. What I am really asking though is how does the same size wheel effect handling, and would these need spacers to fit correctly? I'm not sure what else to ask. but looking forward to learning.

Mike from Wheeler Dealers doesn't much care for those BBS wheels on a 928 (approx. 4:30 mark). For me, they would look a lot better if they were not gold.

BBS RS is classic design. In future they will be sought after when people want period tuning look. This has already happened in BMW circles. Now most Porsche people seem to hate especially gold version. They will change their mind when eithties nostalgia really kicks in next five years or so. Cookie cutters were also almost universally hated at one time but now people actualy want to put them on to their seventies 911 which at one time had 17" cup replicas and later turbo spoiler but is now changed back to period look.

Look thru this post - every imaginable wheel configuration for a shark you can think of (except those beauties Hacker linked to above).

Re-done, the phone dials look pretty good. $60 or so powder coat per wheel, hand paint the caps (five bucks or so for the testors paint), and here's what you get:

Whatever happened to that thread where there seemed to be a ton of intrest in some 17 or 18 inch phone dials that were going to be made from blanks. The CAD drawings were awesome. I would love a pair like that on my 79!

The BBS wheels when used on a road car very often crack the inner wheel half. When it runs far enough under the bead the tires leak badly. The also bend very aesy and no replacement halves are available. I used to get calls often from people looking for one or two rims !!!!A very lightweight wheel that was very expensive when new.

When I went out to fire the car up the other day, first time after the winter, I found a few issues that are taking priority over wheel bling, at least for now. Thank you for the offer, I'll keep it in mind.
