Default Help with identifying this?

This is a blurry pic of an actuator rod that is just hanging in free space. It's to the right of the accelerator pedal and looks like it is supposed to go to a part# 928 573 150 03. The rod when pushed up, does control a flap in the ductwork.

Does anyone know what it specifically does? And is it imperative for a functioning a/c, heat system?

Just running that part number is showing over $800

Thanks in advance

It's an '84 Euro

That's the temperature regulator, the flap mixes hot and cold air to regulate the temperature.

The controller box (928 573 150 03) is $200 used, from 928 Int'l.

Cheers,

The controller is the heart of the HVAC temp control system. Try to find a used one...

Thanks for the help so far. Is it vacuum or electronically controlled? The PET didn't seem to show. Also, how is it attached to the linkage and the supporting structure. As you can see in the photo, the only part I have is the linkage

Thanks

The control unit is electric and works with the inside and outside temp sensors to blend warm and cool air into the cabin. It is about the size of a deck of cards and is fastend by two screws into the bracket in your picture. Like Wally said, it is the heart of the system. I can post a picture later today of the unit.

the part thats missing is called the setting motor,
it will run that rod up and down depending on what the HVAC head and temp sensors tell it to do,

you also have vacuum pods that open and close other flaps so there are 2 systems that run your HVAC system

Thanks for the pics Calgary. I hadn't seen one before. I just bought one from a 928 that's being parted, very reasonable price, it should be here next week.

Thanks for the info. Mrmerlin, I realized something was missing when I was checking out the vacuum lines, finding I have 2 vac. seals that need replacing (defrost and recirc.). Looked up and saw that rod just dangling in the breeze.
