I was only half serious about the earthquakes. I could have thrown mudslides and forest fires in there as well. They are probably all blown out of proportion though until they happen to you.
The cost of living, at least anywhere near the major cities is certainly higher than MA with the possible exception of a few areas.

If I find a good job in SoCal I would move back in a heartbeat......problem is finding a good job.
