I see the job market really taking off here in the SF Bay Area - at least in high tech. There are soo many more jobs listed than a few months ago.

I have three storage consultant positions open...aint finding anyone so far.

Certain industries are really tight..ya.

I was only half serious about the earthquakes. I could have thrown mudslides and forest fires in there as well. They are probably all blown out of proportion though until they happen to you.

The cost of living, at least anywhere near the major cities is certainly higher than MA with the possible exception of a few areas.

I agree on the COL, but...I wouldnt make the same $$ outside of CA for the same job either.
