I had installed an 044 Fuel pump over a year ago after a complete tank clean and system flush. (new strainer, guage sender, etc.)
From the beginning the pump made a much louder noize/vibration than the stock pump. Pressure is always good, and the buzzing noize does not seem to get any louder over the year I have been running with it. It does seem to be a little louder after it has been running for awhile.
I have probably 5000 miles on the pump, one trip for about 12hrs with no issues. Should I swap it out?
Is this normal for an 044?

They're a bit louder, but not vastly. IIRC there is some rubber insulation on the stock clamp to absorb any noise/vibration. The other possibility is the pump is cavitating. Is it any quieter when you have just filled the tank with gas?

What I found when installing an 044 pump is that it is larger in diameter and longer. This size increase makes the metal cover touch the pump when it is installed, causing a resonating effect making the pump sound much louder than it is. Make sure the pump is not touching the metal pump cover. If it is, a ball-peen hammer is an easy way to create some clearance.

I did check it both with full and almost empty, no difference.
You my be on to something about the rubber clamp. Let me look at that.
Thanks

as an aside to this the pump will run louder with the tank less than 1/4 full and if the engine has been running for more than 40 mins this gives the engine time to heat the fuel , simple answer is to fill the tank .
next try adding about 6 OZ of MMO to the fuel this should add some lubricity to the fuel

Mine was loud as hell when first installed, 'cause it was pumping against the constant vacuum in the tank due to a concurrent failure of the fuel vapor solenoid valve (the one that sits on the waterpump). Got much quieter after that was replaced, but it's still incrementally louder than the stock pump on my other car.
