Hello all in 928 land. my name is Mac I have been lurking for awhile now but finally received pictures of my dream car from my father who gave me the car in august. The car is an 83 5 speed grand prix white? I am not sure if it is a euro or not. I asked for the #'s with the photos and it only took 7 months to receive just the photos. I guess I'll just wait until he trailers it up to find out for sure.
I was hoping to put together a list of things to check ,go over when I receive it. some things i've written down already. fuel lines, tb and water pump( does the improved water pump from rennlister fit my MY)?
c-clips on light brackets, ball joints, grounds cleaning, fuse box etc..
Are there any problems specific to my model year?
Thank you in advance.
(still trying to figure out how to post on this forum)

Based on your father's (slowwww) rate of progress, sounds like you should worry about actually receiving the car first.
Then you can start worrying about buying parts.

Just start studying about the car using the search engine here. I have owned a 928 for about 6 weeks but I have learned a lot with this valuable search engine. Along the way you will soon find out the guys who are the real experts. Take those post's very seriously when you read them. I am not going to name any names for fear of leaving someone out, but there are quite a few guys on this forum that are very very good. OK, I will name one name among the many, "Landseer" has given me a lot of great advise to get me started. Alright one more guy that has given me a great start is Roger at www.928srus.com I know there are some good vendors here but Roger has got to be among the best.

From the very small pic in your avatar it does not look to be a EURO car and an '83 won't have an interference engine so if the T-belt breaks you will just be inconvenienced till you can put the cams back in proper time and put a new T-belt on. Early 4.5 and 4.7 5spds are great cars to learn on. Gear boxes can have synchro problems so careful shifting will help you keep the gear box alive longer.
Should have steel lower ball joints, so no worries there really...at least not from a breakage stand point.
Looks like it was repainted and they didn't remove the lower front spoiler and thus just painted it along with probably everything else including gaskets I imagine... LOVE Grand Prix White! Great color! Congrats...hope you get it soon!

Good job researching.
Fuel lines first.
Some very specific fusebox and electrical equipment checks.
Grounds
Brakes and front wheel bearing check.
Go from there. Pictures will help tell the story.
