I heard that it was destroyed in a fire over the years but not where or when. Thanks for the (albeit unfortunate) update Nicole!

The engine capacity and output is indeed a misprint. It was in fact 5.0L and 300bhp. An earlier consideration was a 6.0L as well, but a quickly dropped idea.

I had never heard of this, how cool.

Now I want to put my spare motor into all kinds of things, but mainly my 968. A boy can dream...

Cheers

Many years ago, I remember Gerry Sutterfield in West Palm, Fla had a factory model very similar to this.
If I remember correctly, it was serial number 928-001

Yes, V4 was destroyed in the fire near Hamburg.

The location of V3 is unknown at the moment.

V3 is serial number 928001 and was in the US back in 1979. Gerry Sutterfield used it as his personal track car after being given the car by Porsche with the caveat that it could never be registered and was to be returned to Porsche.

Does anyone have a photo of V3 with its hood fully closed? I have always seen it with the back raised a couple of inches.

I thought the rear of the hood was raised to clear the intake manifold.
