Default Engine badge

Hi,

I have the original chrome badge (928 110 403 00) in top of the engine, but I don’t know what the PO did that besides it being not correctly aligned, it is glued with some super glue or something that drains to the sides of the badge! It really looks ugly!
I would like to replace the badge with a colour one, but I can’t find a reference number and besides that the glue is completely hard and strong like a rock! What do you recommend to remove the old badge and where can I find a colour one, because I believe that for the engine with all the heat produced, we can’t use a “normal” Porsche badge, right?
Thanks in advance for your tips!

Regards

take a torch and heat the badge it should pop right off once you get it hot, have a fire extinguisher handy incase you ignite fumes

That looks excellent, that's just what I want! A normal hood badge will resist the heat of the engine? Wouldn't it start peeling or something?

That's a good idea! I don't have a torch but I have a friend who does!
Hopefully he knows how to use it, specially because it's my car.....
Thanks again for the tip Mrmerlin|

Same here. Used a nice enamal hood badge. Just snip off the studs and file smooth. Has held up very well for last year on a very warm S/C car.

to remove the studs on a new hood badge get a soldering iron and heat the stud base till it falls off, this should not damage the other side of the badge

I have a hood badge I would trade with you. I would like the one on the engine you have now. The badge I have has no pins on the back and is very nice. You can remove the badge on your engine by taping it with a very small screwdriver in the front. Please let me know if you can get your badge off without damage.

In Phoenix in the summer, with two electric fans pulling air past a radiator and a warm supercharger plus elevated intake temps, it gets warmer than usual. I wasnt implying I had any other heat issues.

Hi,
What I have is this one:
http://www.mailordercentral.com/928i...asp?number=928 110 403 00
It's not expensive and you will be better served with a new one, mine it's not looking nice that's why I want to change it.

Regards
