Default Parting out 88s4 as a result of a fire.

Guys, last Thursday I had the best/worst day of my life. In the morning, I found out that I didn't have cancer in my lower jaw. (was worried to death) Then that afternoon after replacing the fuel pressure regulator and fuel dampers, the car was purring like a kitten. I had just turned it off when fire lept from my kerosun heater and created a small back draft which blew my garage door off the tracks so that it couldn't be raised. Then the flames ran under the car and up on the other side. I ran and got the wife out of the house, had her call the fire department, then I got the hose and laid on my belly and kept a stream of water on the flames until the fire department arrived. The fire didn't get hot enough to ignite the intake or melt the block but It totaled the car. So, I have decided to part it out and use a lot of the stuff to enhance my 79. So, first if you have needs, send me an email to fbarnhill@yahoo.com and let me know what you need. Second, is there a write-up out there anywhere where someone put a 4spd S4 auto in an OB? I have heard that it just wakes the car up. My 79 runs perfectly and it only has 75k miles so I figure I will just fix it up and keep it. Also, I would like to put the s4 breaks and headlights on the OB. Any help will be appreciated.

The car is an 88s4 white with lipstick red interior.

Here is the options list:

018 Sport steering wheel with elevated hub
139 Seat Heating - Left
158 Radio "Monterey" - 86, "Reno" - 87+
220 Locking differential
302 Type designated on rear end
340 Seat heating - Right
418 Protective side mouldings
494 2 speakers on back shelf
494 Amplifier system
533 Alarm system
586 Lumbar support - left seat
650 Sunroof

Thanks,

Sorry about the shark, but very glad that you and yours are ok and to your quick thinking, sounds like you really kept things as under control as possible!

How bad is it? It might make a good track car project.

cars can be replaced!!!!

However I don't think the auto would be good in an OB auto....here is my reasoning

when I had an 88S4 auto it was geared really tall...60mph is about 2200rpm and it would take a kickdown to get any real acceleration out of it at 60mph..... The OB at 60mph is around 2800rpm...and a bit of throttle equals a nice jolt of acceleration.... I just thought the OB drove better at typical highway speeds...it feels more responsive..... I think an 89+ auto with the 2.54 is probably the best

Frank-

So sorry to hear this. I can't think of anything I need off hand, but will keep it in mind. Good news about the non-cancer.

Wow bummer on the car. Sure wasn't the fire story I was expecting.

No cancer is good though! The 8" lights always look good, too. It can be a subtle change but significant.

I think a few people have swapped the newer brakes to an older car.

Frank,
Sorry to hear about your car but I'm glad you and your wife are ok. Also great news about your jaw. This could have been much much worse.
