OK, not being able to see in person, as well as handling and ride, which would you folks suggest? I found some Sport Classic II's in 17" and 18" sizes which are the correct offsets.

18's have 7.5" wide fronts and 10" wide rears

or

17's which have 7" wide fronts and 8.5" wide rears

Can get in silver or chrome...

I'm not sure, but the stock wheels are 7 in the front. Some have said the 928 is way under tier in the front, so I guess you want to go with 8 inch in the front if you want to improve the handling?
I would suggest to read as much as you can about wheels and tire options before you buy.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Frankly on the street it makes very little difference how wide your front rims and tires happen to be....

Pretty much so plus the likely hood that you will bend a rim the larger the rim lower the sidewall the more often you bend one..... I have 15 /16/17 and 18 for the old very brown 1980 I track it on the 15 inch rims ! But I even bent one of those , Broke a lower ball joint at the same time ....

CHEAP, yet good looking wheels to battle the Charlotte, NC potholes...

Victor Equipment LeMans wheels w/ factory colored center caps (Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires):

18 x 8 [ET45] (225-40-18) in front; 18 x 11 [ET52] (295-30-18) in rear... the 928 wasn't on the fitment chart -had to use 911 widebody fitment IIRC.

NO spacers!

They are similar to the SCII's... just without the "3-piece" bolts to keep clean.

Double WOOT! Posted in member to member area wheels I have been looking for and lo and behold maybe an hour later a member, agent325, contacted me saying he has a set! Some minor curb rash which is no biggie since local wheel repair place can make them like new for $100 each and they come to my location to do it! EASILY saved me over buying the othes I found by having just paid the Rennlist membership which without would not have had access to the "member to member' area!

And have already confirmed (THANKS SEAN RATTS !!) they will fit my 928. They are

Fronts 18 x 7.5 50 offset Rear 18x10 Offset 65

Curious if will need alignment after install of new wheels and tires after removing OEM ones or not... ?

Two last questons...

1. wheels are 18", Fronts 18 x 7.5 50 offset Rear 18x10 Offset 65, getting differing opinions on whether need spacers as well as recommended tire size recommendatons from search. Suggestions?

2. Recommend alignment afterward going from stock wheels to these?

OK, three questions.. :P, with change in wheels suggest suspension changes?i.e. lowering via springs or what not?

When I look at wheels, I always consider the time it would take to clean them. I can't see myself spending an hour just cleaning complex wheels. 5 thick spokes are much easier to take care of...

Finally,

I think you can go w/ 285 or 295 tires on the rear w/o issue, but don't get my lying...the 295's might require some thin spacers, but I am not positive about that on an S4...I have that wheel size and offset on the rear of EURO85 w/o spacers and the 285's are tight and I think 295's would require some thin spacers to work.

The fronts will go 235 or maybe even 245, but not sure a 245 will fit on a 7.5" X 18" rim, so you might be stuck with 235's. My suggestion would be 285's and 235's...to be on the safe side initially then move up from there if you can or need to.

I agree, but think that the thinner 5 spokes are even easier to keep clean than the wider spokes (of say a cup I or II wheel) and having 18" diameter w/ stock rotors makes it much easier to reach in to clean the inner parts of the rim!

I think with 10" ET65 wheels in the back, you will definitely need spacers to fit 285 tires otherwise the tires will protrude too far inwards.

Not on EURO85... They fit fine w/o spacers and with 285's, but it might be slightly different on S4's...

Its exact same on all 928 if there aren't spacer installed. Are you sure ROW model didn't have option M415 installed, 21mm spacer? They were mouned with longer studs, not as bolt on type like 17mm setup in '89 GT.

I think it must have been an option Erkka (as you mention M415)...I was SHOCKED when I took the rear wheels off and there were no spacers on the back and the studs were the regular short ones like on OB cars! Of course if I had looked closely I would have known as the wheels/tires were well tucked in as on OB's... I would have guessed ALL S cars would have had the spacers! This car was really a stripped down model. No cruise control, 4 speaker stereo (they had the 6 or 8's by '85) and a few other things missing like the rear spacers that I would have expected to see on an '85 S car.
