You are talking about exhaust fumes, right?

I was really just trying to share my experience and also find out if what I am using is incorrect. Keep in mind I was running the car in sub-20 degree temperatures too, sometimes as low as 0. As I said, I used 10W-30 last summer with no issues (that I knew of). From what everyone is saying, I will locate some good Synthetic 15W-50 or thicker oil and change it again as the temps start to warm up.

What effect would 15W-50 have on leaking gaskets/seals vs 10W-30 or 40? Would there be more or less leakage during cold starts, or when warm, etc? Just curious.

FWIW I have been running Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel truck 5w40 (used to be Delvac 1) for a few years now. We get temps from 40-105F here. Hot idle never below 2.5bar, never seen an oil light on while running. The Mobil chart says Ph and Zn are 1100 and 1200 vs 15W50 having 1200 and 1300....

Yeah, my car has had Mobil 1 15-50 in it for 16 years....including track days. Never had a problem,.
BUT, that's what the guy said when his donkey died---"never done THAT before"....

Just like Maple syrup will come out the spout slower than water, so shall your oil leaks be with thicker oil.

It may take longer to make the mess, but it is still a mess.

So anyone have any more details about the "partial synthetic" nature of Brad Penn 20W-50?

A partial synthetic only has to have 0.01% synthetic to be called "Partial." I'd go either full or none. Otherwise I have a feeling you're playing into the hands of the marketers.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking about Brad Penn specifically... for all we know it could be pretty much all dyno oil.
