Default 928 X-Pipe on Ebay

FYI - Just found this x-pipe for bid on Ebay. I am looking around for one in stainless.. but someone here on Rennlist might be interested. I have no affiliation with this:

Yeah, thanks for alerting the crowd... Since it's out here now, anyone recognize which x-pipe this is?

Looks like the Motorsport SLC one (i.e. the "good" one) - although as its been shortened, it'll need hi-flow cats too, or the pipes to join to the rear exhaust.

I'm tempted to bid it up just because, but I'll just buy one from Roger when I reach that point in my project instead.

Why is an x-pipe so much more expensive than a RMB? Just going off pictures they look similiar to build.

More metal, more development costs, more benefit.

RMB seems to add little to no hp (estimates vary between none and maybe 1-2hp).

The X-pipe pictured added 20hp at the wheels for my non-cat 5-speed 89 S4 (I have the same x-pipe, currently installed with no cats).

You can make an X-pipe with a generic X and get some gains, but this one has the correct tube size, merge angle and distance from ports to merge to add more power than most.

Its about the cheapest $ per horsepower you can bolt on to a dual-exhaust 928.

FWIW if you got this pipe and had it jet hot coated it will never corrode and last as long as stainless

Why would you bid this item up if you don't intend to buy it? Bidding something up just for the sake of increasing the price is not cool.

I won't bid on it unless I hope to actually win the item.

Take the cats off and put this on. $150

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/02xypipes.asp

or buy one off a vender.
I think it will work out to about the same $$

There are some nice looking pipes out there that is for sure.

Some of the guys on here have some really really sweeet big dollar systems.

How much difference between the original H pipe and the new X pipe. I have an 87 5-speed with original cats. I have a new RMB and plan on high flow cats this year and would hold off on the X pipe for now.

Don't hold off on the X-pipe. Don't do the RMB.

Get the X with Hi-flow cats and expect 20-40hp if everything else is working right on the car.
