Default Cruise Control Lever

Anyone got a late style cruise lever? I'm repairing a combo switch whose lever broke off ... have it all apart and looks pretty easy to replace if someone has an extra they wouldn't mind parting with ...

I may have one remaining from the donor for an R&R I did on mine - not sure if the donor had cruise - I'll take a look this weekend...

Thanks Alan. BTW, I have a question for you on where a particular part goes when reassembling the thing. Maybe you and I are the only two who've taken one of these apart and tried to get it all working again afterwards :-)

Will post a photo here over the weekend if you wouldn't mind posting back ...

Thanks

Here's what I wanted to verify on the re-assembly. At the top right in this picture, there's a little square plastic piece whose function isn't immediately apparent ... it looks like it clips on the edge of the black plastic housing, pointing downwards ...

Secondly, the white plastic cancelling piece with the springs at top and bottom, does the pin on the underside ride in the recess atop the turn signal lever as shown in this pic? Appears it muist be captured there between the metal cover and the top of the lever ...

Thanks ...

Yes the white cancelling pin must stick out into the central hole - when mounted correctly with springs it should be centered - it should rotate to diagonal sideways when the lever is engaged (L or R positions) - this puts it into position to cancel on the return of the wheel position. the povit pin is held captive in the cover plate.

The other part clips on the depression and is essentially a spacer/insulator for electrical purposes - it does look kind of odd

The whole thing is hard to reassemble - but once you have done it 20 times - it gets easier... you are probably getting there....!

A warning I had to disassemble & reassemble about 5 times fully onto the car before I got it all adjusted quite right (especially the headlight side switching - the most fiddly) the turn signal side is pretty easy (but of course you have to address both at the same time).

BTW assuming you screwed the lid back on where the rivets were - you will need to countersinlk the screws into the cover plate so the headds are ~flush with the plate for fit...

Sorry haven't looked for the lever yet - some house issues kept me busy what time I had this weekend

Looks like one of your cancelling "wings" is missing off the lever...

Alan
