Default Looking for mechanic in Tennessee

Hello,

I have a 1983 Porsche 928S and I am looking for a good mechanic to service my car in Tennessee near Nashville or Knoxville. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by "Service"?

Just looking for a trusted garage and a mechanic with some skills that has some experience with Porsches. Nothing is really wrong with my car but I may need a steering rack in the future. I've moved and I don't have the facilities or the time to work on my car like I use to.

I've been thinking about this place

Good luck with your hunt, not many places can or will do good work on a 928 from what I have seen.

I do not know anything about the shops you listed, you might call and ask if they have the Porsche 9201 tool, if they know what you are talking about right off, then you may have found a place that is ok, if not, keep looking.

I think you are being too modest Greg. It might be worthwhile to drive all the way to your shop

Thanks Paul, but there may very well be some one there who works on these cars, but he is welcome to bring it to me.

It might be a stretch but there is a guy outside Dayton Ohio about 300 + one way.

On my way back from picking up my shark in Seattle WA last year . I had a tensioner warning. I looked over some reviews that night and called him. He moved 2 new 911's worth about 300,000 (Small shop) and brought mine in and checked it out. Tightened the tensioner looked at the belt felt I should be OK. He also has owned several 928s. He didn't charge me anything. He had about 1 million in Porsche cars alone he was working on. One was a track car a wealthy guy was having him build.

The steering U-joint seems to be reaching the end of its useful life on some of these mid year cars.

I've just found a third bad one on an 84.

Robert Berry did a LOT of work on my 83 S for the PO. Motor mounts, tie rods, ball joints, etc. All well done. I've known him for 30 years, good P mechanic. I enjoy doing my own work.

Robert Berry at Eurohaus Motorpsorts is a 30 year veteran Porsche and BMW mechanic. He's done a lot of work for me and I've been very pleased with the work and his attention to detail. Best of luck with the car.
