Default what is this "bracket"

What are the brackets, below the rear seats, one on each side poking out of the carpets? They are black, maybe identical to those that the rear luggage net clips to. Surely they're not just to hold the carpet up. Child seat attachments?
--yes, I have been searching . . .

Thanks much,

Hi John,
My educated guess is that they are there for the same reason as the ones in the trunk.
So the cargo net can be stretched to cover luggage when the seats are folded down.
