If you're using Roger's hose to replace the stock unit, it needs to be longer than stock just to keep a happy radius on it. Don't have it here to measure but I bet it's a good 11-12".

Here's the bend on my GT:

The Goodridge hose that Greg uses allows a tighter radius, I measured this one from the base of the hex nut on the inlet (@ the orange paint) to the end of the sleeve on the metal part of the line, and it's 9.5".

FWIW, I've used the "coil some stiff wire around the hose" trick before to prevent kinking of tight-radius lengths of hose.

For example: I lived with this one (using some insulated 12 ga. solid copper wire) for a few months until I could get a better preformed hose:

It's better to get the right preformed hose (or use longer lengths, if possible), but the above technique helps (in a pinch ) when those other options aren't available.

Re pic #1. Be sure to put the 14 pin cover in place when measuring fitment. IIRC I cut 7.5 inches, tightened it down, put the cover on and the front of the "U" was smack against the edge of the cover just begging to rub. Sigh, took it off and cut 1/2 inch off. YMMV.
