I'll second this. I would look for a vacuum leak before I looked to adjust the idle screw. Especially if the high idle is something new since the idle screw isn't likely to back out by itself.

Check your plenum rubbers, including checking to see if they are dry-rotted or cracking from oil sitting in them, check your vacuum hoses and also check your vacuum hose connectors for rotting.

hmmm….. I’m not sure I understand. I do not see a screw driver slot on the ****. It seems (before I touch anything), that the **** has a lock nut around it that should be loosened so the **** can be turned and the **** is turned by maybe one’s fingers?

you turn the brass nut looking part that is the adjuster screw, its not a locknut
