Default Rear Wheel Bearings - Magnetic ring

I supply a lot of the new Porsche Rear Wheel bearings and the latest number is 999 053 055 02. This bearing is fitted to 996, 997 and GT3 Porsche cars as well as the 928

The bearing now comes with a magnetic ring on one side and a plain ring on the other.

A number of customers have been asking me which way round to fit the bearing - magnetic ring inboard or outboard?

The magnetic ring is for some “magic” braking system on newer Porsches and in those applications it does matter where the magnetic ring is positioned

On the 928 it does not matter which way around the bearing is fitted.

Hope that helps.

With a magnet in there to catch the shavings, I guess we don't have to worry about over tightening them anymore. J/K.

Uh.....Roger. Your new avatar is quite striking but I didn't think you got a lot of snow in DFW and I have not heard that you picked up a Panamera; so......whats up with that?

I was going to ask the exact same questions.

What's the story Rog? Giving up on the 928?

Sad that you can only be two feet tall to get that view of the Panamera ..... I keep seeing them on the street a lot but .....

I LIKE THEM!

Don't hate me.

Hopefully in 10 years I'l be able to afford a used one. It can't be as hard to keep running as a 928, after all. :P

I reckon I'll have one in 25 years just like my 928! Woohoo I'll be 65!

And what's wrong with being 65? (I'd like to have one when I'm 65 and I'm almost 64) I've already got a start on it though, I have Panamera wheels on my 928. I'm only about $75k away from owning one!
