Default X-pipe installation

I have some trouble installing my x-pipe. First, the rear section will not slide over the x-pipe because they have been clamped tightly on to the cat before and have become to narrow. Is there some kind of tool to widen the rear sections? some heat possibly?

Second, my S4 is from '91 and besides the O2 sensor there are also 2 sensors at the back of the original cat. On the X-pipe (stainless Supersprint) there are no holes for these sensors. Are they necessary to make the car run properly? What are they BTW, temperature sensors?

Thanks!

Is your S4 imported from Japan? Japanese models have thermal sensors at the rear of the cats as to warn for possible cat fires. I'm not sure if they are connected to just a warning light on the dash or if they are part of a more complex system.

Yes, my car is imported from Japan. Maybe this explains the extra sensors. I've read lots of previous posts on x-pipes and never came across them.

I'm still very interested if these sensors affect the LH system or are just for a warning light.

The rear section slides into the X. You may have to lightly hammer the pipe sections smaller to fit.

No, my x-pipe is different from the ones from 928motorsports. It's from a european manufacturer. I've measured both ends and its definately supposed to slide over the x-pipe. You can actually see where the clamps have narrowed the mid sections to much to fit.

I'll visit a garage for the necessary equipment to bring the mid section flange to original spec again and I'll leave the temperature sensors out as they don't seem to be important for engine to run properly.
