Default Seat belt extension

Ok, no smart a** comments
- my wife is only 4' 9" tall, and with the seat all the way forward on the '86 so she can reach the pedals the seat belt at max extension is so tight she can't drive comfortably. Anyone know if an extension that works on the drivers side?
I suggested she doesn't drive it, but that didn't go over well!

I had huge fatguy nightmares when I read the thread title.

I'm not really sure what your options would be that would keep the belts positioned correctly.

Unbolt and move the pedals back.

I could swear I remember a PorKen post about there being 15mm thick pedal extensions that can be doubled up, from Porsche. Damned if I can find it, tho.

Kudos to your wife for wanting to drive the shark, and I'm glad it's not an airbag car. People that close to the steering wheel do not fare as well with airbag discharges....

The safe and proper way to do this would be using pedal extenders. There should always be adequate distance between her face/chest from the steering wheel.

Custom made bolt on pedal extensions wouldn't be difficult to make, and would mean that you could tailor them to get maximum arm reach, to lessen risk of impact with the wheel in the event of a panic stop or accident. Extensions to get leg and arm positions right would be way safer than just extending the seat belt, for a compromised position.

Rob ... are the extensions you recall solid?

Edit: Just saw the above post re extensions ... and I guess anything that you do would need to be officially approved.

Found 'em in PET, bottom of illustration 702-00. Looks like they're stackable, with associated bolts and lockwashers. .

928 423 207 00 for 5-speed brake and clutch pedals

928 423 213 00 for automatic brake pedal.

No idea whether they're solid or not.

As they're made by Porsche specifically for the car, and are offered as an additional part, then they must meet design rules ... and therefore have to be OK legally.

... but they aren't QD.

Once they are fitted, the wife could drive the car, but not Neil.

I don't think that was what he had in mind.

I reckon his signature line below gives you the story ... she'll be able to say 'you can't drive my car' ... they've all got their own and recovery vehicles as well!! The garage must be ginormous or some get left outside.

81 928 Bambus Beige - Mine
84 928S Euro Metallic Silver - Daughters (in South Carolina)
86 928S Black - Hers
98 Land Rover Discovery - Mine (to recover the 928's)
06 Range Rover III HSE - Hers ( to recover any of the above!)
AAA to recover the Range Rover :-)

LOL Dave. Porsche are always in garage - the land rovers are all weather outside, of course here in San Diego it's nice most of the time anyway!
cheers
