Not sure if it would help these two car owners... but I think the slats in the door vents are the same as the rear vents, and should be interchangeable. Just exercise care when disassembling/reassembling the pieces -they could break again.

I repaired mine a few years ago and think that was the route I used... IIRC.

The vents were glued in the ends with model / super glue . The small tabs broke when trying to remove. I removed the entire sets and replaced in frame with parts I had in stock. I have no idea why someone would glue them in place. Vents have been returned.

There is often a rattling noise that seems to come from the rear vent area, but is actually stuff underneath. I can see where a less-than-ambitious someone might put a spot of glue on the vents to try to keep them from rattling/buzzing. For the first few years of ownership, I had a towel draped over that area to hide the noise and to protect the area from sunlight and damage from lugagge etc. I fixed the rattle, but still keep the towel over that stuff most of the time for the other reasons listed.

Thanks for sharing as I never thought of noise being the reason to glue. They were really neat with it but that would drive me crazy. My 928's do not have rear air.
