Has anyone used an inexpensive cassette converter to transfer songs into digital form for use in an Ipod that can be plugged into an aux cable on the car radio? Wondering if the transfer yields decent replication of good sounding metallic tapes.
Any info, comments greatly appreciated.

Hey Greg. I've done it and have been very happy with the results. There is a free program called Audacity that is top notch. It comes with pages and pages of documentation regarding use of the program to help you along. The particular converter I used was not very expensive; it connected to the stereo output jacks on my cassette player and then into the USB port of computer. It came with some software as well but I didn't use that and opted for the Audacity program instead. It is time consuming so if I had a choice I'd just fork out $1 a song and buy them if I could; I had rare stuff on tape that couldn't be had any other way.

Thanks Manfred. What conveter device did you use? I've been looking on line at devices that look like a portable cassette player(about $65) that plugs into the computer but am concerned what the digital replication will sound like. It sounds like your converter is different.
