Default 86.5

Ok I think I found another 928, its a good mileage 5spd car, it's a 86 but a later one vin # over 1000 so it should have good brakes, suspension? How are the 5 speeds in them are they the same as the s4? This car seems nice and its about 3hrs away and its ready to drive minus tires which I plan on putting 18'' wheels on any way. Thanks again Telly

Telly, yes, it has the later 4-piston Brembo calipers front and rear, revised suspension, and other minor S4 details. The 5-speed is essentially the same box as the S4 box. A 5-spd '86.5 is a great car to get your hands on!

You post very little info on this car, perhaps you are playing it close to vest to protect your find. No problem. I wouldn't drive 3-hours one-way based on this, but others have. YMMV. 86.5 has S-4 suspension and brakes. HP listed at 288 is conservative on Porsche's part and with Porken's help, see his site, the '85-86 responds well. If the rubber bits haven't been replaced, it has a lot of deferred maint.

If it has LSD you are in heaven. But you will probably pay more on deferred maint. (but no TBF) per Steve's post above.

the owner says it had water pump, timing belts and all new wheel bearings a very short time ago. It also has a clean carfax says it needs tires and a/c blow cool. I rather have an s4 but for the price of this car I don't think I can pass it by. And yes very little details on the car do to it's price I'll let you know if I buy it tho!

A few changes might make it read better.

From another thread, looking for one to butcher into another trans-am with a GM powerplant:

"I've found a low mile 86.5 for 6500 but I want to hold out for a new body, I'm sure I can find one a little messed up less the 5k. "
