Question

Is it still TBD if it's a private or public function? Are all 928'ers welcome? Thinking about coming out for this event. 77Tony

Yes it's an open event. We basically take over the Best Western Hotel in Banner Elk, NC. For me, the journey there is as good (if not slightly better) than the destination. The Cherohala Skyway is to die for, along with Betsy's Gap, and the run through the Pisqua(?) National forest. Whoo Hoo!

Tony,
It would be a blast to have you drive your car out there - but as always, you've got a seat in mine. This year, I'll even let you drive it!

"Yes it's an open event"

That is great news and the Texas crew will be there in full force - Road Trip.

Sounds great, we are familiar with the area. I few friends of ours own: www.ironhorsenc.com and it's near "The Dragon", Cherohala Skyway, etc. and it's a fabulous area. We will be booking this trip today along with another 928'r. We are hosting an event called 3rd Coast 1st Annual Spring Fling, Mar 25-27th,2011 so come on out ! Guys... I'm not trying to start another war like we had last year , BUT...

I do not speak for Dave and Jeannie, so I apologize if I gave the wrong information. And as has been pointed out to me by several PM's it says on the 928 SP website re: SITM that it is private event.

But like Tony said,

Just show up...stick a name tag on, pitch in for a 12 pack of beer..talk 928 and your in. You do those things you will fit right in.
Seriously, its a must do event.

I'm sorry if I spoke out of turn. I'll be sitting in the corner if anyone needs me...

I will try to rally the troops, even though I will be 928-less. There is a chance I will be co-pilot for one of the gang, I would hate to miss it... Regardless, the "new england-to-SITM via blue ridge parkway" should continue on as a tradition.

Andrew,
Fully understand where you are coming from and I for one have no wish for a war of any type - never have never will.

I have no beef with DR or his company at all – it was he who asked me not to attend last year. This was after I called him to ask if it was OK to attend as I had done in previous years in accordance with his conditions on his web site. I could have attended the public part but chose not to be somewhere I was not wanted.

The Best Western is a public place - the event is held in a public place ( I checked with the town and there are no plans to exclude anyone).
For a number of years I attended as "Roger Tyson" a 928 enthusiast - at the private function on the Saturday I was always very careful not to discuss, mention, advertise, promote my company in any way out of due respect for 928 Specialists.

I would point out that 928 Specialists, along with all other 928 vendors, have always been invited to attend all our functions and have indeed accepted the invitations but not shown up for their own good reasons.

I and the Texas crew want to be there and I will do anything to be able to attend. It is after all the biggest and best 928 GTG bar none.

I will certainly be there at the Hotel and in the town as “Roger Tyson” a 928 enthusiast. I will not attend any “private functions” provided by 928 Specialists.

Hope that makes my intentions clear for all to see.
Roger
