Default DFW 928 GTG January 1st moved the the 8th.

Hi Y’all,
As New Years day is not the best day to have an early breakfast meeting we have moved the GTG to Saturday January 8th.
We will be all driving to Austin to join with our friends (Austin 928 Group) for their GTG on that day.
They normally meet late morning about 11.00am. Driving distance is about 200 miles.
Plan to be leaving the DFW area about 8.00am on Saturday morning. We will meet South of Ft Worth on I35W. A specific time and location will be posted prior to the date.
Look forward to seeing you all there.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
Roger

Well, that is probably why you guys are coming to Austin on the 8th!

We are looking forward to playing host and we will stay well north for you guys so you don't have to battle to much traffic.

In fact follow the 2nd Saturday Austin, TX gathering for the next few weeks and I'll also be sending direction to Roger but here is the game plan:

We will meet early for lunch (as usual) at the Twin Peaks in Round Rock. This will provide some eye candy, sustenance and a shorter trip for you guys in D/FW and it is easy to get to. The TP's is at the intersection of I-35 and Toll Rd 45. What that means is you have to exit about two exits earlier than you would think (well before you can see it!) and then you get the chance to go UNDER the first intersection (YEA!) and at the next light do a U-turn and then zip across three lanes of access road and in to the parking lot! Really easy to do!

The guys coming up from south will have a more difficult time (unless they really do arrive at 11:15AM) because they will battle the downtown I-35 debacle. This town is such a PITA to get around. That is part of the reason why those south rarely come north of the river and vice versa.

Can't wait to see you guys again! Have a safe trip down!

Hey locals,

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...to-borrow.html

Does anybody around here have a phonedial gathering dust in the garage that I could possibly borrow for a week or so?

Stayed at "The Driskill" last time we went to Austin and it was great. Now looking for something away from downtown Austin. Anyone know a good place to stay on Fri & Sat nights with safe, lit parking, maybe up around the Twin Peaks Rest in Round Rock ? Happy Holidays to all. T

Tony,

My fav place right up there is the Marriott North (not sure if it is called North Austin, or Round Rock) and it is less than .75 miles from TP's to the west of it in the La Frontera area. I think it would be safe parking, and if you sweet talk to front desk they might even let you park it up by the front door! Regardless I think that would be the safest place for you and your car. If for some reason the car is not done and there then there are other places a touch closer and cheaper you could stay at.

Scott C and I plan on making down at this point in my ride. It will be nice to meet some of the Austin folks and see some that were at 3rd Coast.

BTW, went to Cars and Coffee this morning with my 9 year old. It was in the upper 20s with the wind chill and about 1/10th the people/cars there. Still had some really nice cars show up though. About 7 or 8 911s showed but we were the only 928 there.

Instead of taking I35W all the way we will research a more interesting Route for the trip down.

Alex,

Depending on where we meet, may meet you on the way out of town...looks like I should be able to make it. Still fighting a small tranny leak. Fresh alignment and just need two new tires, should get those Monday.
