My 928 is mostly drivable though looking very rough (clear coat failing all over) so every time one of my other cars need work they get priority which means I've done little more than maintenance to it so far.

The end goal is a modernized, comfortable, and daily driveable 928.

Mechanically; if it could fit I'd love to shove the drivetrain from a Cayenne/Panamera Turbo in there (already own a Cayenne Turbo S that I'd totally sacrifice for the project) but it can't so plan B for the drive train is just ensure it has enough pep to feel like a modern sports car and not get embarrassed by a Toyota Corolla. I'd love to convert it to a manual but that may not be in the cards.

Beyond that I've been trying to create an accurate 3D model of the car so I can experiment with interior and exterior styling tweaks. I've tried photogrammetry but the results haven't been great with just my cellphone camera. I'm probably going to invest in a proper camera setup or more likely an actual 3D scanner.

I have some things I'd like to try for the exterior but before I go crazy I want to see how it would look. For the interior though I wanted to try and modernize it with heavy inspiration from current Porsche interiors and have digital displays that are more than just some random head unit. I'm a programmer so if I can't come up with a bespoke digital cluster and center console I'll be disappointed in myself. I did a foam mockup of a center console design at one point. I don't know if I still have any pictures of it but I didn't like that design anyways because it just didn't fit with the rest of the interior.

Once I have the 3D model I'll definitely share it since I'm sure other people will find it useful too.

Edit: Alternatively if I win the lottery I'm just buying a Nardone 928 and calling it done (https://www.nardone-automotive.com/)

Thanks Dave, I appreciate it. It is a good feeling to work on it again, although progress is still a little slow as things are a bit fuzzy and foggy still.

Default Door leather, speaker install

Another quick update. Got the center console temp sensor assembly (AKA as the thingie) and trim piece installed. Unpacked the new head unit made by JVC that will go with the AudioFrog speakers. It is a shallow depth unit so there will be sufficient space on the backside of the center console.
It is capable of both Apple Car Play and Android Auto, with Bluetooth calling and dual camera inputs, as well as USB inputs for external music drives.

Also glued and trimmed the leather for the driver's side door panel (lock **** trim and cutout left to do), and got the speakers installed. Some close-up pictures of the mounting system which is well designed in my opinion. It allows the actual speaker to sit even with the door card surface due to its shallow mounting depth.

Cheers!
Carl

Default Overdue update

Long overdue, but here are some pictures of the finished seats and dash.

Brian did an excellent job on the airbag delete and covering of the dash. The dash has leather on the lower part and Alcantara on the upper defroster area. This was to match the Alcantara on the upper instrument pod area.

The seats started out as comfort seats with heat, and redone in new denser foam, reshaped and a more modern stitching pattern applied to the seating area and back rest (similar to the 997 seats).
Additionally a small pascha pattern was inserted to give some detail to the seat (credit for original idea goes to Tony). Brian worked through several iterations before we were both happy with the result.
I am personally extremely happy with how this turned out and the seats are infinitely more comfortable than the stock seats.
A big thank you to Brian for the excellent workmanship.

Cheers!
Carl
