Default WTB Porsche Tools

I have on order a 32Vr timing tool from Roger, but I also wanted to have a crack at the WSM method for checking timing. Since I don't have some of the tools, I was wondering if anyone is willing to sell:

(i) VW 387 dial gauge holder

(ii) 9232 angle tip for dial gauge (or have any ideas for a suitable alternative - I've looked in the places I know about, but can't find anything that resembles it)

I'll be up front and say that I am not looking to spend a whole lot here. This is more for entertainment than necessity, so I can't justify spending a whole lot, but I promise to be reasonable.

Thanks,
Dave

The 9232 is only about $9 or $10, not worth buying used. I bought a new VW387 at ZDMAK and it was nearly $100. Not a lot of them floating around, I think I've seen 1 on Ebay in the past couple of years and it went for almost $100 as well.

Get the right dial indicator, that angled tip will not fit on a lot of dial indicators.

I prefer setting the cams up with the dial indicator than with the PK tool, but I am in the minority here.

IIRC it was Greg N who posted a pic of his Mitutoyo with the angled probe on it that led me to find a used 2050S, on which the 9232 fits perfectly.

There is a guy on ebay selling them for about the same price. I was hoping it would be one of those items people buy and then pass along. I did see a mention of fabricating a ferrous metal plate which attaches to the heads and then using a magnetic dial indicator holder - a cheaper route for sure.

Any suggestions on where you can pick up a 9232?

Thankfully I already have the Mitutoyo dial indicator - came in handy of my other car several times already.

Thanks,
Dave

IF it is Mitutoyo dial indicator that has at least a 10MM stroke and is one of the ones that the tip will fit you are good to go.

I think I had one of them that the tip would not fit on IIRC.

Greg, it is the 2050s that I have. With any luck the tip will fit as it should, and I'll be good to go.

Thanks,
Dave
