I found mine on the drive way once, after taking the car out for a test drive......... saw it sitting there and wondered "oh, something shiney, what the hell is that?"

I should "lose" the damn things.........

I left mine on a wheel and drove 1/2 mile to the gas station.

Got home, realised and had an "O chit" moment.. thankfully it fell out at the gas station and the guy behind the counter had it.

I've had 5 lug nuts on each wheel since then.

You would not be the first mod here to loose one.

You can carefully drill it off. Set aside a lot of time to do it, and be prepared to have the wheel stud re-threaded.

My most recent car came with wheel locks and no key. I was prepared to become very creative....then I discovered the locks were "finger tight", literally. I removed them all with no tools. Must have been doing a lot of good....but all the rest of the nuts were also finger tight. Glad I did a lot of checking of many things before I tried the car on the road..starter was the same, bolts finger tight.....alternator too.....now I am more than a bit gun shy to go the speed limit....I haven't found anything else loose BUT..........

I did drill a set off my 944 sometime back, but they were IMO substantially less secure than the 928 style. And there was more space around the nuts for access than on the 928 standard wheels....

There is a joke in there somewhere, but since the wife did a good deed, I think you owe the wife something extra this Christmas. (Since you didn't find it yourself ... )

Mine had 4 regular lug nuts stuck away in the corner of the door compartments. I'm not saying yours would be there, but I'm guessing that if the car came with wheel locks it may have had the regular lug nuts with it at some point too.

Who knows.
